Meet Katie Johnson, M.A., LPC
Welcome, I’m Glad You’re Here.
Seeking counseling takes courage, and finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. My hope is that from your very first visit to Stone Lake Counseling, you'll experience a space where you feel welcomed, supported, and understood.
Prior to becoming a counselor, I spent nearly twenty years working in healthcare as a registered nurse and healthcare leader. Along the way, I witnessed the emotional weight carried by so many people who dedicate themselves to caring for others. That experience, combined with my own journey through life's challenges, ultimately led me to pursue counseling.
Today, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside adults, teens, couples, and helping professionals as they navigate anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, burnout, grief, and other challenges. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative environment where healing, growth, and meaningful change can occur.
My Approach
I believe meaningful change begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. My approach to counseling is warm, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that healing happens within safe, supportive relationships. Together, we'll explore the patterns contributing to your current challenges while working toward lasting change.
My work is attachment-focused and informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and other evidence-based approaches. Every counseling experience is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and strengths.
For clients who desire it, I also welcome the opportunity to thoughtfully integrate Christian faith into the counseling process. Faith integration is always guided by your personal values and goals and is offered only at your request.
Who I Enjoy Working With
Every person has a unique story, and therapy is never one-size-fits-all. I enjoy working with individuals and couples from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences.
